How can I get started with LostIt Tag?

Simply download the app from your mobile app store and follow the steps in the app.

How will I get notified when my cell phone gets lost?

When a finder finds your lost item, we will contact the person you listed when you added a new item. When you add an item, you will always be the default contact associated with an item, but you will have the option to change the contact info for any of your items. When you protect your mobile phone with LostIt Tag, select someone else as the contact. When your phone gets lost, that contact will get an SMS with a link to anonymously communicate with the item's finder. Alternatively, you can sign into your account from a different device using your login details, giving you access to all your notifications, chats, and item details.

You can add LostIt Tags to their items, including their clothes, sports gear, textbooks, and more. These items can be protected under your LostIt Tag account. We will route all anonymous conversations to you through the app, and you will be able to make arrangements for a safe return.

How can I give special instructions to the finder? For example, what if my lost pet requires medical attention or my item requires any other special care?

When adding an item, you have the option to add any special instructions. Special instructions will be visible to finders when they find your lost items. Information can include vet and other information.

What happens when a finder scans my lost item?

You will immediately get a system-generated push notification and SMS to make you aware. The LostIt Tag app will provide the location of where a finder found your item, and you will be able to access an anonymous chat with the finder.

What can I protect with a LostIt Tag?

Anything! LostIt Tag is designed for you to use on all your personal items, big or small, whatever their value! Some examples are medications, credit cards, passports, prescription glasses, school bags, blazers, toys, electronics, water bottles, gym and sports gear, clothes, textbooks, laptops, and more!

Can somebody scan my LostIt Tag code, even if they do not have the app?

Yes. Any mobile phone with a QR code scanner can scan the QR code and get in touch with the item's owner while keeping the identity of both parties safe.

Where can I get a QR code?

You can access the LostIt Tag store via our mobile app or website. You can also search for LostIt Tag products on Amazon.com .

Can I put QR codes on all my items?

Yes! The more items you protect, the better. LostIt Tag is an affordable, easy solution for protecting all your items while ensuring privacy for you and your family.

Can I remove my LostIt QR tag and use it on different items?

Yes. All QR products can be placed on a new item (except a QR LostIt sticker that might get damaged when removed). Simply edit the item details to refer to the new thing you want to protect by selecting the item from your app's home page and editing the details.

Do I need to change the QR code when my number changes?

No need to change the code. Instead, simply change the contact details associated with your item by editing the contact details or creating a new contact.

Can I remove my QR code and use it on different items?

Yes. All QR products can be placed on a new item (except a Lost It Tag QR sticker that might get damaged when removed). Simply edit the item details to refer to the new item you would like to protect.

Do I need to replace the batteries?

LostIt Tags does not require batteries.

What is the range?

Worldwide! The solution will work as long as the finder and the user have a mobile connection. Finders can be in a different country and don’t need to have the LostIt Tag app to scan your LostIt QR Tag.

Will LostIt Tag help to protect my items?

Yes. Most people want to return lost items when they find them, but up until now, they had no way. There are millions of dollars worth of lost items at lost-and-found facilities with little hope of ever being returned. Having the LostIt Tag products on your items enables finders to return your lost items.

Will my private information be shown to anyone when they scan the QR code?

No, LostIt Tag will not share the name, email address, or contact information of either the finder or the item's owner. The only visible information will be the item name, reward amount, special instructions, and an item image if you choose to provide an image in the item details.

How will my private information be used?

We will only use your contact information to contact you through the app when your lost item gets found. We won't share your information with item finders, owners, or anyone else.

Can people use this to track my loved ones or me?

No. LostIt Tags are not live tracking devices.
